How to Steep E Juice? A Complete Guide to E Liquid Steeping

E-liquid steeping is the process of maturing e-liquids to extract more flavour from them. It’s essentially a method in which you allow your vape juice to age in its bottle. This is a straightforward technique that people traditionally use to enhance the taste of their e-liquid.
While it may take some time, the results can be astonishing. To achieve the best steeping outcomes, always ensure you purchase your e-juice from a reputable vape shop.
The steeping process serves to reduce the harshness, chemical taste, and enhance the flavours of e-liquids. To steep your e-liquid, simply store the closed bottle in a cool, dark place for several days or even a couple of weeks. It’s essential to keep it away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
Here’s how to steep your E Liquid:
Step 1: To ensure that all the compounds in the e-liquid mix well, shake the bottle for about two minutes. Avoid over-shaking the bottle to prevent excessive bubbling. This is the only time you’ll shake the bottle. It’s recommended to shake it every two days to maintain liquid consistency.
Step 2: Gently twist the cap, allowing natural solvents and alcohols to rise to the top and evaporate.
Step 3: Leave the bottle to sit for at least 24 hours, then squeeze it slightly to remove any trapped air.
Step 4: Put the cap back on and let it sit for two days.
Step 5: Store the bottle in a dark place at a moderate temperature, ideally between 15C and 20C. A closet or cabinet will suffice for storing your e-juice. The primary goal is to protect it from direct light and extreme temperatures.
Step 6: Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 until you notice a change in colour or flavour. You can repeat these steps for up to two weeks to observe changes in your e-liquid.
The steeping time for your e-juice can vary based on factors such as VG and PG consistency, as well as the specific e-liquid flavours. VG (Vegetable Glycerin) is thicker than PG (Propylene Glycol) and often requires a longer steeping period. Generally, the steeping period falls within the range of 10 to 30 days, depending on the e-liquid type. We recommend leaving fruit flavours for 3-5 days, but desserts may take up to 30 days for best results.
What to Expect After Steeping:
Once the steeping process is complete, the first noticeable change is in the colour of your e-liquid. It’s worth noting that the longer you steep it, the darker it will become.
Steeped e-liquid will also present a noticeable change in flavour when you vape it.
A properly steeped e-liquid will have a subtly altered aroma as well.
It ultimately comes down to personal preference whether you want to use your e-liquid flavours as they are or steep them for a period of time before use. If you choose to steep, consider these essential tips for enhancing your e-liquid flavour properly.
