How We Verify Age
All customers placing an order for age-restricted items are subject to a verification check.
We use a secure digital process to check your details against recognised data sources.
Automated Checks
When you place an order, we automatically run an age check using the following details:
- Full name
- Email address
- Address line 1 & 2
- Postcode
Your data is sent securely using encrypted SSL.
It is checked against the Electoral Roll and credit reference data (soft search only).
This does not affect your credit score and will not be visible to lenders.
Only Vapour Depot has access to this information — we do not share this data with anyone else.
Most customers are verified at this stage and no further action is needed.
Manual Checks
If your details can’t be verified automatically, we’ll need to verify your age manually.
Some common reasons include:
- Billing address doesn’t match Electoral Roll
- You’ve opted out of the public register
- Your data can’t be matched or found
In this case, we’ll contact you by email to request valid photo ID.
This could be a driving licence or passport.
Once received and approved, your order will be processed.
You only need to pass verification once — future orders won’t need to be checked again.
If we don’t receive valid ID, your order will be cancelled and refunded in full.
What Happens If You’re Not Verified
If we don’t receive a response, the order will remain on hold.
If no valid response is received within 28 days, your order will be cancelled and refunded.
Other Important Notes
- Age verification is required before any restricted items can be shipped
- We cannot ship until your age is confirmed
- You only need to be verified once
