Vape 101: Best Way To Prevent Your Coils From Burning

Vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking, but the cost of flavours and burnt coils can make it an expensive habit. Burnt coils lead to both discomfort and the need to continuously purchase replacements, which can be a financial burden. Additionally, a burnt coil results in an unpleasant burnt flavour.
However, there are strategies to minimise coil burning and extend their lifespan. Here are some tips to help you avoid this issue:
Priming is Key:
Priming the e-cigarette coils is crucial for preventing coil burning. Priming involves saturating the dry wick attached to your coil by adding a few drops of e-liquid to the coils and ports. After filling your vape tank and changing the coil or wick, allow it to soak for about 5 minutes before using it.
Vape Mindfully:
Although vaping is safe, taking frequent, continuous hits can harm your device and increase the risk of dry hits, which burn your coil and damage the wick. To avoid this, allow the wick and coil to re-saturate between hits.
Adjust Wattage:
Vaping at higher wattages can lead to faster coil burning, as the increased temperature vaporizes e-juice rapidly, producing thick clouds but burning the coil. Lowering the wattage can reduce the frequency of coils burning out.
Keep the Tank Full:
Keeping your vape tank filled helps preserve the coil, as many tanks require a certain juice level to saturate the coil. Keeping it topped up can prevent unnecessary coil damage.
Choose Higher PG Liquids:
Liquids with higher propylene glycol (PG) ratios are less viscous than vegetable glycerin (VG) liquids, making them more absorbent by the wick. If your coils are burning quickly without high wattages or continuous hits, try a juice with a 70/30 VG/PG ratio and move towards a more balanced 50/50 ratio.
Limit Sweet Flavours:
Sweet e-liquids can lead to coil issues as they tend to clump and deposit around the coil. Sweeteners in the flavours caramelise on the coil and accelerate coil deterioration. To avoid this, vape with more balanced E Liquids and avoid sweet flavours.
Temperature Control (TC):
TC devices help prevent coil burning by allowing you to set a maximum temperature for your coils. When the temperature reaches this limit, the device stops delivering power, safeguarding the coil from overheating. This extends the coil’s lifespan significantly.
By following these strategies, you can make your coils last longer, saving money and enhancing your vaping experience.
